The CEO Forum

The Australia-India CEO Forum held its meeting on 9th March 2023 in Mumbai.

The meeting coincided with the visit of the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia, Minister for Tourism and Trade, Senator the Hon Don Farrell and Minister for Resources, the Hon Madeleine King MP to India, along with a high-level official and business delegation. The visit came after the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement, the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) on December 29, 2022.

The 2023 meeting was convened to renew and build relationships at the highest level of business and to assess new opportunities that will emerge resulting from ECTA.

During his official visit to Australia in May 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with business leaders to take forward opportunities from the CEO Forum held in Mumbai. In the presence of the Honourable Prime Minister, the Business Council of Australia committed to leading a high-level delegation to the B20 which was hosted in Delhi in August 2023.

With the support of Australia’s Assistant Minister for Trade and Manufacturing, Senator the Hon Tim Ayres, a roundtable of business leaders from both Australia and India confirmed the establishment of five joint working groups (education, renewable energy and critical minerals, the digital economy, infrastructure and finance, and Agritech), which would drive the intersessional work of the CEO Forum.
